According to its 2006-07 Annual Report, for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2007, the LCBO recorded $3,922,648 in sales. Thirty-two point six percent (32.6%) of this sales revenue was returned to the province as a dividend. Think about that fact this way ...
The next time you buy a $16.00 bottle of wine at the LCBO, $5.21 is for the province's "dividend" and the remaining $10.79 buys the wine, ships it to the warehouse, distributes it to the LCBO stores AND RUNS THE BUSINESS -- paying the stores' rent, utilities, insurances, marketing, advertising, promotion and the salaries and benefits of every employee, from the president to the cashiers.
